Adventures in Road Tripping Across 5 States with 3 Boys 4-years-old and Younger...

Isn't this a funny picture?! Kaden slept for hours with his blanket completely covering his face. This was a wonderful moment in our trip...it was the one and only time all 3 of the boys slept at the same time AND we had a full tank of gas. This picture does not do justice to the gorgeous drive into Vail. What you can't see is that the Colorado River is on the right side almost the whole drive. Amazing!
We were ALL ABOUT bribing our kids with treats! :)
So, here's just a couple of snippets about the road trip:
1.On Day 1 our first mistake was leaving early (4 a.m.) the day after camp. We were so super-duper tired that whole day (translated-CRABBY), which meant we actually had to stop more to rest. And the sun actually rises so early in the morning, that the boys were pretty much awake from 4 a.m. on. It was a bad day.
2. Day 2 started out with promise. We were rested, excited and headed for our final destination. Unfortunately, mid-day we were about 20 cars behind a really horrible accident that involved a tanker truck exploding on a 2-line highway. They closed the road for 6 hours. We ended up taking about a 4-hour detour. It was also a hard day and we actually didn't quite make it to Vail.
3. The road trip home was great. We had learned our lessons and our 20+ hours driving home was almost perfect!
