I am so glad that I made it to camp even in the midst of a crazy week. When my plan A, B and C fell through to get down to Wildhorse mid-week, Plan D (as in Dad) came through! (THANKS DAD!!) Zachary, my dad and I headed down early Wednesday morning and the two of them returned home after about about an hour break at camp. They did get a flat tire coming home, but Zachary proved to be a good traveling buddy!
I just love these high school girls so much and I am convinced more than ever at the absolute importance of what Steve does for a living and what we need to be about as a family. I was kind of having a hard time leaving the boys once I was down there, but a good friend/Area Director who was down there for the week (she also has 3 young boys) reminded me of the truth of why I was there. I was SO thankful for her reminder to me that our boys were perfectly fine in the care of their grandparents and this was OUR time to be a mother and father to kids who are parent-less and hurting. She continued to encourage me the few days I was there of how important it is for our own kids to see that we are about telling lost kids about Jesus. It was really a special time for ALL of us!
P.S....even though I was up till 2 a.m. both nights and did everything from the ropes course to the zip line, to crazy, high energy meals and clubs and free time, it was still oddly the 3 most relaxing days of my summer. Is that crazy?!
