What We Won't Pay For in Weddings We'll Make Up For in Medical Bills

Tuesday night was the perfect recipe for disaster:
We had just returned from a wonderful week away
Steve had to turn around and go out of town
my parents and in-laws are gone together in Hawaii.

It only figures that this would be the night that Zachary falls off the top of his bunk bed and hurts his foot. Doesn't it seem to always turn out that way? :)

Zachary was sitting on top of his bed calmly watching Kaden play and learned a little too far forward on the railing and ended up flipping right off. He was up all night in a lot of pain because of a sore foot so we headed into the doctor yesterday. Thankfully, Rylan was able to have a little playdate with his friend Hailey so I didn't have to figure out how to do the appointment with 2 kiddos who couldn't walk!

The X-ray came back showing no breaks, thankfully. But, the doctor said that it's very common for kids to have hairline fractures in the foot that won't show up for about a week on X-ray. He's in a splint that he'll stay in until Monday and then hopefully by then he'll be walking and feeling good again. He's had a great attitude and hasn't been in any pain since yesterday morning so we're really thankful for that. Unfortunately, since he can't walk on it he's not able to go to school until next week. We're just praying that he'll be all healed up by Monday so we don't have to go back for more X-rays! I guess my boys didn't get the memo that 2008 was supposed to be the year of NO EMERGENCIES! :)

Of course I can never get too stressed out before Kaden provides a good bit of comic relief. Here's a little story of what happened in the waiting room while we were waiting to be called for the X-Ray.
(In the lab a lady walks in with short, disheveled hair and a patch over one eye.)
Kaden: Mommy!!! It's a pie-wit. That lady is a PIE-WIT!
Me: Kaden, she's not a pirate. Sometimes when people have a sore eye they need to put a patch over it.
Kaden: (pointing, getting very excited and LOUD) BUT MOMMY!! IT'S A PIE-WIT! THAT LADY IS A VERY BAD PIE-WIT!
Me: Kaden, please whisper and it's not nice to point. (Trying to distract) Where's your eyes Kaden?
Kaden: (not catching on to the distraction) BUT MOMMA LOOK AT THAT BAD PIE-WIT AT ZACHY'S DOCTOR!
